About
Explorer Camp Lafayette introduces campers to outdoor activities including hiking, kayaking, canoeing, and biking, along with yoga, art, and music. A sample week includes on-site biking and yoga on Monday and Wednesday, art and exploring on Tuesday, music and canoeing on Thursday, and kayaking and art on Friday. Campers are strongly encouraged to bring their own bike for biking day and to remove any training wheels before camp.

• Schedule: One-week sessions, Monday–Friday, 9 AM–3 PM, with extended care available 8 AM–5:30 PM; total camp hours 30 per week

Explorer Camp Lafayette is part of Avid4 Adventure, whose mission is to give kids a love of outdoor activity and to support future caretaking of the planet, with a focus on lifelong outdoor adventure and stewardship. Instructors are all 18 and older and are described as incredibly well-trained and professional staff, with serious safety and skills training, and Avid4 hires committed, experienced instructors. The program uses professional-caliber equipment so campers experience how successful mountain biking, kayaking, and climbing are supposed to feel, and every activity starts with a discussion about risks, prevention, and how to respond if something goes wrong. Hikes include teaching about flora and fauna and Leave-No-Trace principles. Avid4 Adventure transports campers to recreation areas for each adventure sport and returns groups to the facility for afternoon pick up, with parents and campers meeting staff at a consistent location daily.
