Explorer Camp Highlands Ranch is part of Avid4 Adventure’s one-week Explorer summer camps for 5 and 6 year olds entering Kindergarten or 1st Grade, with a camper-to-staff ratio of 5:1. Parents and campers meet staff at a consistent location daily, and Avid4 Adventure transports campers to recreation areas for the day’s adventure sport before returning to the facility for afternoon pick up. Avid4 Adventure provides transportation to and from recreation areas and access to gear specifically sized for kids, and strongly encourages campers to bring their own bike for biking day with training wheels removed prior to camp.

Instructors are described as expert instructors and incredibly well-trained and professional staff, all 18 and older with safety and skills training, and Avid4 Instructors are noted as the number one point of positive feedback from parents of campers. The program states that every activity starts with a discussion about the risks involved, how to prevent them, and how to respond if something goes wrong. Avid4 Adventure recruits, hires, and trains outdoor educators and is committed to paying them a fair wage. The camp is backed by the Avid4 Adventure Guarantee, which includes a free future camp if its stated promises are not met.

Explorer Camp Highlands Ranch operates under Avid4 Adventure’s mission that kids build confidence, make new friends, and master skills in paddling, biking, rock climbing, and hiking. Avid4 Adventure’s leadership includes founder David Secunda, a former president of the Outdoor Industry Association and a 25-year veteran of the outdoor education industry. The organization is accredited by the American Camp Association, is a Certified B Corp, and has been named among Colorado Parent’s Top 5 Sports Camps. Avid4 Adventure operates under a Special Use authorization from the National Forest Service and is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Families can access a Multi-Session/Sibling discount of $25 off per session after the first, a referral program that gives friends $50 off their first camp and provides a $50 coupon for a future 2026 camp when they purchase, and a $65 Service Discount for qualifying professions. The program notes that its summer camps are highly acclaimed and 5-star rated. Parent testimonials describe children learning to ride a bike without training wheels, being eager to share what they did each day, and talking about camp more than a month later.
