About

Survival Skills Day Camp – Highlands Ranch gives campers a full week of survival-focused activities, including navigation, animal tracking, tool making, fire building and safety, hiking, and canoeing. Campers practice basic navigation skills, learn principles of Leave No Trace, observe and identify useful plants, track animals, identify scat, and work on finding food and medicine in the wild. They also fashion utensils and shelter from gathered materials, try flintknapping, learn the basics of paddling a canoe, learn water safety and canoeing equipment, read terrain to find water, and practice purifying water they find.

One parent shared that their child learned to ride a bike without training wheels during camp and discovered new favorite activities like stand up paddle boarding, kayaking, and biking. Other parents report that their children were eager to share what they learned each day and continued talking about camp weeks later.
