About
PAA Summer Camps offers dance camps, acting camps, voice camps, and theater camps, along with mini-musicals such as Bluey’s Dance Mode, K-Pop Hunters, Dancing Under the Sea, Tiny Musicians, Broadway Show Stoppers, Going on a Bear Hunt, Work! A Hamilton Dance Intensive, Disney Song & Dance, Fosse & Friends, Dancing Through Life, Wicked Moves, Stage Steps, Broadway Pop Dance, Dinosaur March, Stormy Dancers, Movie Mashup, Modern Moves, Choreo Creation, Jungle Boogie, Legends of Broadway: Dance, Paw Patrol: Song & Dance Rescue Crew!, and Minion Mayhem. The program also includes theater shows, theater classes, dance classes, voice classes, technical theater classes, workshops, PAA Afterschool, an outreach program, private lessons, fall shows, spring shows, and summer shows. Dance camps are described as 1-week half-day camps, and each camp ends with a Friday “Shareformance.”

PAA Summer Camps is part of Performing Arts Academy, a non-profit theatre arts organization that operates year-round out of a 10,000 square foot home facility and also rents different facilities and schools. PAA provides performing arts education for students 3-years old through 12th grade in the south Denver metro area, with K–12 theater camps, classes, and shows using curricula that follow or align with state standards for music and arts education. Camps offer small class sizes for quality instruction and feature professional teaching artists and current industry professionals, including seasoned staff with degrees in music theatre, music performance, and music education, who tailor educational experiences for each age group.
Under the leadership of Executive Director Dr. James Ramsey, PAA has grown from 26 students in 2006 to over 1,600 students in 2024. The leadership and artistic team includes roles such as Artistic Director, Resident Directors, Education & Outreach Manager, Production Manager, and additional administrative and facilities staff. PAA’s mission is to create community, build character, and inspire excellence through performing arts education, and to make the transformative power of the performing arts available to all people, with a mission and vision that are explicitly inclusive and reflect acceptance of all people and promotion of diversity.
PAA Summer Camps and related programs are supported by sponsors and foundation grants including Colorado Creative Industries, the National Endowment for the Arts, SCFD, and the Virginia W. Hill Trust Foundation, and PAA is grateful for continued facility use support by St. Luke’s United Methodist Church. PAA gives back to the greater community through fundraising performances for scholarships and local causes and partners with local businesses and organizations through sponsorships and collaborations. PAA has been recognized as the Silver Winner 2026 in the Best of Mile High awards for Best Specialty School in Colorado, with community nominations and reviews and ratings verified and good standing confirmed by the BBB.
