About the provider
Wild West Balloon Adventures was started in 1998 by Ian Cox. Bud and Stacia Whitehead bought the business on January 1st, 2018. Bud Whitehead is the owner and head pilot, and Stacia Whitehead is the owner and marketing director. Hot air balloon pilots are certified by the FAA and complete annual safety training and exams. Each flight begins with thorough pre-flight checks, and the balloon is inspected regularly by FAA-certified inspectors.
Children younger than six cannot ride. Younger kids need to be able to stand comfortably in the basket for about 45 minutes. Wear layers; in spring, summer or fall wear long pants and a few layers on top. In winter add a coat, gloves, hat and boots. Have breakfast beforehand, and bring a small snack if your child tends to get hungry.
What families say
“This was an absolutely incredible experience for the six of us. It wasn't on anyone's bucket list, but a trip to Steamboat opened up the opportunity. So much fun. The weather was perfect, so the views of the valley, mountains, and fall foliage were amazing. Our hosts, Bud and Stacia, and the rest of the crew, could not have done more to make this fun and safe. Highly recommended!” — Todd G
