Quest’s Camp Thunderbird offers week-long summer camp sessions that include activities such as building a pirate ship, searching for hidden treasure, potions classes, care for magical creatures, and a Disney-themed scavenger hunt. The camp also hosts corporate retreats, field trips, Camp Days, an Evening Social, and team-building activity options.
• Ages: 7–18 years old
• Schedule: Week-long summer camp sessions with 2026 Summer Camp registration open, including two full blocks from June 7–July 3 and July 19–August 7
• Price: Block One Full Block (June 7–July 3): $4,725 or $1,000 per session; Block Two Full Block (July 19–August 7): $3,450 or $1,000 per session; Weekend Stayovers Available: $400 per weekend
Quest’s Camp Thunderbird was established by Herb Holm in 1969. The program offers engaging experiences for all abilities and all ages, including a transformative summer camp experience for children aged 7–17 and engaging week-long summer camp sessions and recreational programs for adults with developmental disabilities in a real summer camp environment. Accommodations and activities are offered with views of Lake Prevatt, and Weekend Stayovers allow camp guests to stay the weekend and bridge the gap between two or more consecutive sessions. The mission of Quest, Inc. is to help people with developmental disabilities experience a full life, and the organization states that its programs are for children with and without disabilities and that Camp Thunderbird offers fun and inclusivity for all. Quest, Inc. is not affiliated in any way with Quest Diagnostics, a clinical laboratory that operates in Florida and many other states throughout the country.
Program support is provided in part by organizations including The Ability Experience, AdventHealth Altamonte Springs, Rotary Club, The Bond Foundation, The Chesley G. Magruder Foundation, City of Orlando, The Doug Flutie, Jr. Foundation for Autism, Elks Lodge Apopka, Hans & Cay Jacobsen Foundation, Orange County East Rotary, Steve G. Fund, VNA Foundation, Zellwood Station Red Caps, and Zellwood Station Signal Lights. Disney VoluntEARS organized a Disney-themed scavenger hunt at Camp Thunderbird, and volunteers from Rotary Club of Maitland sponsored and served dinner at the camp. Quest, Inc. states that it operates its programs and services without regard to race, color, and national origin in accordance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, embraces people from all walks of life, and works to maintain an inclusive environment where everyone, regardless of ability, age, cultural background, ethnicity, faith, gender, gender identity, ideology, income, national origin, race, or sexual orientation, feels welcomed and respected.
