Polk County Parks and Recreation Youth Athletic Leagues and Summer Program includes youth athletic leagues and events such as Youth Baseball, Youth Football, Youth Soccer, and Youth Softball. The program also operates a summer program with Summer Camps. Parks and Recreation oversees more than 120 sports fields and 27 youth athletic leagues with more than 12,000 participants.

• Schedule: Polk County-maintained parks and boat ramps are open from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m., with boat ramp hours from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., and office hours Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Polk County Parks and Recreation manages more than 60 parks that include athletic facilities, picnic areas, a historical-oriented park, resource centers, five campgrounds, an ATV park, and 40 boat launching sites. The department also produces special events and operates a summer recreation program. Restrooms and parking lots in Polk’s park areas are ADA-compliant. The program is led by Manager Mike Callender. Parks and Recreation works with cities to develop grants and agreements for park development and improvements.
