Polk County Parks and Recreation Youth Athletic Leagues and Summer Program includes youth baseball, youth football, youth soccer, youth softball, and a summer recreation program. The program is part of a system that oversees more than 120 sports fields and is responsible for 27 youth athletic leagues with more than 12,000 participants. Parks and Recreation also produces special events and conducts a summer program.

• Schedule: Office hours Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Parks and Recreation maintains more than 60 parks that include athletic facilities, picnic areas, a historical-oriented park, resource centers, five campgrounds, an ATV park, and 40 boat launching sites. Restrooms and parking lots in Polk’s park areas are ADA-compliant. Parks and Recreation is divided into Administration, Parks Maintenance Unit, and Recreation Unit, and the Recreation Unit plans and develops recreation programming and special events, conducts training courses for coaches, and operates the summer recreation program. Parks and Recreation works with cities to develop grants and agreements for park development and improvements. The manager of Parks and Recreation is Mike Callender.
