Quarterback Academy was founded by Darin Slack in 1988, and over 34 years later they offer athletes a training experience. The leadership team includes QBA Founder Darin Slack, Michael Slack, JR Revere, and Rod Robison. Staff credentials include Darin Slack, who graduated as an All-American QB at the University of Central Florida; Michael Slack, who played 4 years of college football at Baldwin Wallace; and Rod Robison, who graduated from CSU Chico. The mission statement says that QBA provides skills training systems and services and customer service for coaches, athletes, and parents, along with instruction, information, personalized service, and knowledge they need to advance their training programs. NFA has invested heavily in coach certification.
Unique features of the program include professional instruction within limited enrollment small groups, no long lines, and personal interaction with a nationally recognized staff of coaches. Instruction combines classroom and on-field work, with featured classroom clinics that complement dynamic fieldwork sessions and fully comprehensive evaluation and testing. Athletes are tested both physically and cognitively within a full battery of assessments and learn their strengths and weaknesses so they can receive optimized training. The Duel is described as the premier quarterback competition for rising stars, where quarterbacks come from all over the United States to showcase their skills while competing with other elite athletes. QB Connect provides access to a professionally produced, fully comprehensive video library of quarterback instruction and QB Coach Training and is described as a development tool for coaches, quarterbacks, and parents. NFA’s primary aim is stated as “Accelerated Development and Leadership,” with a vision to train, teach, and build young men, a motto of “Confidence – Character – Commitment – Consistency,” a credo of “Self-Correct, not self-destruct,” and the C4 Self-Correct System. One testimonial from Darin Slack describes an epiphany that became The Quarterback Academy, with a drive to mentor, teach, and develop new generations of quarterbacks and a mission to instill a balance of mind, heart, spirit, confidence, and leadership, and notes that over 34 years later they offer athletes a one-of-a-kind training experience.
