About
Take Root Forest Learning Community provides nature-based, holistic education programs for families through a wide range of nature-based classes and camps, including Family Forest School, Homeschool Forest School, and Forest Camp. The program also offers Forest Teacher Training, Forest Parent Workshops, family nature field trips, seasonal family festivals, family beach picnics, and parenting workshops and classes. Take Root is a learning community and does not act as a child-care provider or provide child care services, and its instructional classes are offered as support to supplement each child’s homeschool experience.
• Ages: 1.5–12 years old
• Schedule: Under age 5 Family Forest School options Monday–Friday based on availability; Homeschool Forest School for ages 5+ Monday–Friday September–June; Forest Camp for ages 5+ Monday–Friday in June and July; Forest School Year runs September–June; Camp takes place during the summer for children ages 5+.
Take Root’s mission is to facilitate outdoor experiences that inspire the curious mind, instill love and appreciation for nature while nurturing positive and holistic living, with an understanding that being in and with nature encourages respect and admiration for the environment and all living things and cultivates the growth of healthy and diverse communities. In addition to classes and camps, there are opportunities for stewardship, volunteering, and getting involved in the local community and environment.
