ArtStage Performing Arts Center offers classes in Ballet, Jazz, Modern, Tap, Acrobatics, Hip Hop, Lyrical, Contemporary, and Creative Movement. The program also includes Acting, Voice, Music Theatre, a Performing Group, Creative Kids Club, and a Summer Camp.
• Ages: 3–18 years old
• Schedule: Closed the week of Spring Break, the week of Thanksgiving Break, and the weeks of Christmas and New Year’s according to the PBC School District calendar, and closed on Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and Labor Day; open on all Teacher Work Days throughout the school year.
ArtStage Performing Arts Center has been in operation since 1990 and describes itself as a quality dance facility with a positive atmosphere, an innovative curriculum, and a friendly environment. The stated mission is to offer students a positive atmosphere that promotes self-esteem and develops creativity through an innovative curriculum at a quality dance facility, while having fun, and to inspire creativity in children that will set the stage for future success in all areas of life. ArtStage was the first to offer triple threat training. The program has a non-discrimination policy that states it does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion (creed), gender, gender expression, age, national origin (ancestry), disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or military status in any of its activities or operations. Families are invited to try a free class.
Director Linda A. White is the Artistic Director, a national award winning choreographer and teacher, and has been certified for more than 40 years by Dance Masters of America and Florida Dance Masters. Staff member Lindsay Carretero is an ArtStage alum, a BAK and Dreyfoos School of the Arts graduate, continued training at Florida State University in the BFA Acting program, and received a Master of Fine Arts in Voice Studies from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London, England. Heather Connolly has been at ArtStage for 30 years, first as a student and now in her 18th year of teaching, and has studied under professional teachers including Mike Minery and Mia Michaels. Yakov Hadash studied music, voice, and education at the University of Pittsburgh and Jewish Theological Seminary, teaches music at Meyer Preparatory School, and works as a cantor at Congregation Shaarei Kodesh in Boca Raton. Yesenia Mendoza started training in hip hop at age 8 and has worked with local upcoming artists and at special invite-only events for Rick Ross and Venus and Serena Williams. Danielle Taveras has been at ArtStage for 30 years, first as a student and now in her 17th year of teaching, and has studied under professional teachers including Chet Walker and David Howard.
One former student states that ArtStage prepared them completely for college and a professional career and identifies as a graduate of the B.F.A. musical theater program at Florida State University and an Equity actress. One parent states that their child is a well-trained dancer and that the child has gained confidence, poise, and many happy memories of friendship and kindness at ArtStage.
