ArtStage Performing Arts Center has been in operation since 1990 and describes itself as a quality dance facility. The stated mission is to offer students a positive atmosphere that promotes self-esteem and develops creativity through an innovative curriculum while having fun, and to inspire creativity in children that will set the stage for future success in all areas of life. The program states that families can try a free class.
The leadership team is headed by Artistic Director Linda A. White, who is also the Director and a ballet and jazz instructor. Linda A. White is a national award winning choreographer and teacher, certified for more than 40 years by Dance Masters of America and Florida Dance Masters, and ArtStage was the first to offer triple threat training. Staff members include Lindsay Carretero, an ArtStage alumna and graduate of BAK and Dreyfoos School of the Arts who continued training at Florida State University in the BFA Acting program, has worked internationally as a performer and teacher, and holds a Master of Fine Arts in Voice Studies from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London, England. Heather Connolly has been at ArtStage for 30 years, first as a student and now in her 18th year of teaching, and has studied under professional teachers including Mike Minery and Mia Michaels. Yakov Hadash studied music, voice, and education at the University of Pittsburgh and Jewish Theological Seminary, teaches music at Meyer Preparatory School, and works as a cantor at Congregation Shaarei Kodesh in Boca Raton. Yesenia Mendoza started training in hip hop at age 8 and has worked with local upcoming artists and at special invite-only events for Rick Ross and Venus and Serena Williams. Danielle Taveras has been at ArtStage for 30 years, first as a student and now in her 17th year of teaching, and has studied under professional teachers including Chet Walker and David Howard.
ArtStage Performing Arts Center states that it offers a friendly environment with superior instruction from highly trained teachers and operates under a non-discrimination policy that includes race, color, religion (creed), gender, gender expression, age, national origin (ancestry), disability, marital status, sexual orientation, and military status. One former student states that “ArtStage prepared me completely for college and my professional career,” and a parent states that their child is a well-trained dancer who has gained confidence, poise, and many happy memories of friendship and kindness.
