About
Osceola YMCA Learning Center Youth Programs offers homework support, STEAM projects, arts and crafts, literacy activities, hands-on experiments, organized sports activities, and free play sessions. The program includes early learning and childcare, a Voluntary Pre-K (VPK) program, wrap-around VPK care, and Before and After School Care with academic support and recreational activities. Children participate in learning through play using hands-on activities, interactive games, and creative exploration, with engaging play opportunities both indoors and outdoors in an indoor gym and on spacious outdoor fields.
• Ages: 2–12 years old
• Schedule: General hours Monday–Friday, 7:00 am–6:00 pm, with up to 10 hours of care available each day; VPK is a 540-hour program
• Price: 4C School Readiness accepted
The program uses the Frog Street Curriculum, which is described as being designed around the latest scientific early brain development research, and follows a play-based learning philosophy that includes social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development. It uses Conscious Discipline to promote social-emotional development and build strong relationships, and focuses on kindergarten readiness in the VPK program, along with academic readiness, social readiness, independence, communication skills, and partnering with parents. Staff meet all DCF licensing standards and requirements, class sizes are in compliance with DCF regulations, and the program maintains low teacher/student ratios. The Learning Center has been providing early education programs for more than a decade and is described as much more than a daycare. The program offers primary weekly care for preschoolers and school-aged children centered around YMCA core values, with an outstanding curriculum that includes character development and building relationships, and provides priority access to sports and other programming for Before & After School families. Spanish-speaking team members are on-site, electronic payments are available online, and part-time and full-time care options are offered. The Association’s stated purpose is to improve lives in Central Florida by connecting individuals, families, and communities with opportunities based on Christian values that strengthen spirit, mind, and body, and it has a presence and partnerships across Orange, Osceola, Brevard, Seminole, Lake, and Marion counties.
