About
Osceola YMCA Learning Center – Early Learning & School-Age Programs includes activities such as swim lessons, basketball, soccer, volleyball, and other organized sports activities. Children take part in STEAM projects, arts and crafts, literacy activities, hands-on experiments, and free play sessions. The program also offers homework support as part of its school-age options.
• Ages: 2–12 years old
• Schedule: 10 hours of care available from 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM; VPK is a 540-hour program
The program uses the Frog Street Curriculum, which is based on early brain development research for newborn children to kids ages 5 and older, and follows a play-based learning philosophy that includes hands-on activities, interactive games, and creative exploration. It offers Primary Care weekly care for preschoolers and school-aged children, Voluntary Pre-K (VPK) with a kindergarten readiness focus, wrap-around VPK care before and/or after VPK hours, and Before and After School Care with academic support and recreational activities, including homework support. Learning activities range from STEAM projects to arts and crafts, literacy activities, and hands-on experiments, along with engaging indoor and outdoor play that includes organized sports and free play sessions.
Staff at the program meet all DCF licensing standards and requirements, and class sizes follow DCF regulations with low teacher/student ratios. The Learning Center has been offering early education programs for more than a decade and is described as much more than a daycare, with healthy beginnings, positive interactions with caring adults, age-appropriate learning activities, and time for fun and making friends. The program accepts 4C School Readiness, offers part-time and full-time care, provides electronic payments online, and gives priority access to sports and other programming for Before & After School families. It uses Conscious Discipline to support social-emotional development and relationship-building, includes Spanish-speaking team members on-site, and focuses on academic readiness, social readiness, independence, communication skills, and partnership with parents in an inclusive and welcoming environment that celebrates diversity.
The Association’s stated purpose is to improve lives of all in Central Florida by connecting individuals, families, and communities with opportunities based on Christian values that strengthen spirit, mind, and body. The organization notes a presence and partnerships across Orange, Osceola, Brevard, Seminole, Lake, and Marion counties to deliver positive change.
