Founded in 2007, Suncoast Stables is a full-service barn that offers a lighted covered and open arena, stalls and wash racks, multiple pasture areas, and other amenities. The program’s mission states that the barn is a safe and supportive family-friendly environment for horseback riding and training, and that private 1:1 lessons teach riders to ride the right way while emphasizing the respect and responsibility needed to make a successful horse and rider team. Horsemanship summer camps are divided by age groups and are held rain or shine, and horses and riders from the program have experienced success at local, regional, and national levels, including eligibility for Florida State High Point Program awards through competition. The program specializes in American Saddlebreds, Morgans, Arabians, hackneys, and roadsters, and offers horse training programs customized to each horse and rider or driver.
Owner and trainer Krystle Lee leads Suncoast Stables. Krystle received her B.S. in Equestrian Science from William Woods University in Fulton, Missouri, and is an active member of AMHA, ARIA, ASHA, CHA, UPHA, and USEF professional organizations. Suncoast Stables is a past Reserve World Champion of the American Saddlebred Breed Ambassador and has been named FSHPP Barn of the Year in 2022, 2023, and 2024. Krystle has been awarded Instructor of the Year by the Florida State High Point Program and 2024 UPHA Chapter 16 Horse Person of the Year.
Proper riding attire is required, including long pants and closed toe hard-soled shoes, and ASTM F1163-15/SEI Certified helmets are available. A completed Client Application, Release Form, and Medical Form must be turned in to be on the property, and participants are asked to arrive 10 minutes before their scheduled time because late arrivals cannot receive extended time. Suncoast Stables does not offer trail riding. Suncoast Stables was featured on ABC News on the “Good Morning Odessa” segment as a place to try in the Tampa, FL area.
Parent testimonials describe long-term horsemanship training, boarding multiple horses at the barn, and participation in training, competition, and horse care. One parent notes that their daughter now wants to turn her experience into a lifelong passion, another states that their boarded horse is healthy and happy and that they would highly recommend Suncoast Stables, and another describes clients supporting each other’s achievements and says that Krystle emphasizes proper care, respect, safety, and good horsemanship.
