Camp Windermere is described as all-day recess with engaged, positive, and watchful counselors and operates as a device-free environment with supervised activities throughout the day. Weekly themes include Wild West, Water Week, Wacky Week, celebrating the USA’s 250th and the 2026 World Cup, Movie Week, Space Week, and a Summer End Party, and some in-house field trips and guests during the USA celebration week include goats and bald eagles as real animals. World Cup matches are shown in the afternoons for campers who are interested, and an optional movie theater trip is available as an add-on. Campers are divided by age groups, and the counselor-to-camper ratio is at least 1:10, with waitlists used if registration reaches capacity. Facility tours can be scheduled by appointment, and new campers or those interested in seeing the spaces can arrange a visit. The camp’s stated goal is to provide a fun, safe, and device-free environment to build relationships and have a good time.
Camp Windermere is led by Camp Director Coach Ed Custodio, a former Division 1 college coach who has experience as a high school dean, elementary classroom teacher, and program director, and who is a father of four children. Camp Director Tommy Sprague is an OCPS physical education teacher and a father of three, and he is involved in camp operations. Counselors are selected from area high schools and college students returning for the summer.
For campers participating in St. Luke’s Vacation Bible Camp in the morning during Week 3 Option #3, members of the Camp Windermere team collect campers from the Sanctuary between 12:15–12:30pm and bring them to the Treehouse in Building C. Families are asked to send lunch, a water bottle, sunscreen, a change of clothes, a towel, and a swimsuit for water slides each day, and not to send valuables, Pokémon cards, toys, or electronic devices such as phones or iPads.
