Florida Virtual School

Florida Virtual School is a fully accredited, tuition-free online public school option that offers a wide variety of more than 200 online courses for Kindergarten–12th grade students. Students have year-round, 24/7 access to their courses and can complete them when and where they want, including at home, during a free period at school, or while traveling over summer break. The program offers both individual courses through FLVS Flex and a Full Time Public School option that follows a fixed, 180-day school year schedule from August to May.

• Schedule: Customer care phone support is available Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. and on weekends from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Florida Virtual School has been leading online education since 1997 and has been leading the way in Kindergarten–12th online education for more than 25 years throughout Florida. Students who meet district graduation requirements are able to receive a Florida diploma from Florida Virtual School. The program supports both homeschool and traditional public or private school students and has served more than 250,000 students during the 2024–25 school year. Students also have the chance to participate in more than 80 student clubs that cover a wide variety of interests.

The leadership team includes Sam Verghese (Chief Executive Officer and Superintendent), Dr. Louis Algaze (President and CEO of FLVS and FlexPoint), Suzanna Pacheco (FLVS District Principal of the Year 2026), Kaleigh McCoy (FLVS District Assistant Principal of the Year 2026), Michaele Ann Elliott (FLVS District Teacher of the Year 2027), Michael Jata (FLVS District Support Person of the Year 2026), Jenel D’Alessandro (science instructor for Florida Virtual Middle School), David Fellows (World History Teacher), and Andrea Jones (School Social Worker). Florida Virtual School is fully accredited, and FLVS and FlexPoint CEO Dr. Louis Algaze was named to Florida Trend 500, which honors Florida’s top leaders driving innovation, impact, and business growth. Each year, FLVS nominates four team members to represent the district as candidates for the Florida Department of Education's annual recognition programs.
