CBP Martial Arts Academy Orlando is led by Mestre Lazaro, who is the Owner and Capoeira Master and has been teaching Capoeira since establishing his own Capoeira Academy in Orlando in 1994. He has dedicated over 30 years to teaching Capoeira, and his core mission is to help students believe in themselves, achieve their full potential, and thrive in a supportive and empowering community. The leadership team also includes Mestre Lazaro Santos, Professora Paraiba (Jessica Ortiz), Professor Bambu, Instrutora Gine (Jessica Wernett “Gine”), Professor Palhaçada (Wellington Lima, also known as “Palhaçada”), Instrutor Scooby Doo (Craig Ellis Raboteau, also known as “Scooby Doo”), Instrutor Rafael, Instrutor Rato, Professor Pike, and Instrutora Ciclone (Viviana Castaño, also known as “Ciclone”). Professor Bambu received the rank of Professor in 2019 at Capoeira Brazilian Pelourinho’s 26th annual batizado, and Professor Pike has been teaching Capoeira for 20 years.

Capoeira at this academy is described as an Afro-Brazilian martial art that combines self-defense, fitness, music, acrobatics, culture, and community. The Capoeira camp includes capoeira, games, crafts, and more. The After School Program is described as a convenient and positive alternative to traditional after-school care or daycare. The Be Extraordinary Academy micro-school, which partners with the academy through the nonprofit organization Capoeira for Tomorrow, focuses on holistic growth and teaches virtual education, personal development, basic finance, arts education, health and wellness, and passion exploration, and includes Capoeira classes as part of its after-school programs.

Batizado 2025 is described as an annual graduation ceremony where students are formally recognized for their growth, dedication, and skill and receive their next cord (belt), and it is scheduled to take place at the Orlando Museum of Art. CBP also brings Capoeira to multiple locations across the United States, including Merritt Island, Florida; Las Vegas, Nevada; Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; and Satellite Beach, Florida.

One parent testimonial describes the Summer Camp and Academy as “the most AMAZING experience you can give your kids” and notes that the parent’s daughters learned and did many things in one month, and that staff, especially Jessica (Ms. Ginie), were caring and loving from day one and felt like an extended family.
