About

Orlando Music Camp includes music theory workshops, instrument-specific masterclasses, piano, ukulele, and drum ensembles, band and vocal groups, and student rock bands and bucket drumming groups. Campers take part in music appreciation, musical trivia, guided listening activities, music literacy games, rhythm skills activities, STOMP-style performances using body percussion and household items, and practice time in lesson rooms. The camp also offers outdoor activities, songs and friendly challenges, group icebreaker games, creative play stations with Legos, Magna-Tiles, boomwhackers, and art supplies, as well as board games.

• Ages: 5–18 years old
• Schedule: Weekly sessions Monday–Friday, 9am–2pm, with a closing concert at 3pm each Friday

Orlando Music Camp is part of the Orlando Music Camp collection and builds on the earlier Orlando Drum Camp to include piano, guitar, ukulele, and voice, with groups arranged by age and experience and a final concert performance featuring multiple group and solo pieces. Each camp week is custom-tailored based on each student’s instrument choice, experience level, and personal goals, and no two camps are the same. The camp includes access to over 100 instruments during the week and for the concert, including over 30 hand drums, several drum sets, xylophones, Indian tabla drums, and a handmade Eclipse drum. Campers bring a home-packed snack and packed lunch.

Orlando Music Camp, originally called Orlando Drum Camp, began in 2011 as Paolo Tursi’s high-school senior project, starting with 11 students and 3 instructors and growing to roughly 25 students by 2013. From 2014 onward, every Orlando Drum Camp has served more than 30 students each week, with the highest enrollment being 52 students for one week, making it the largest camp in Central Florida of its kind. Paolo Tursi organizes the camp, and his stated goal in starting it was to help working parents by providing a uniquely beneficial and fun solution.
