About
Palm Harbor Parks & Recreation Youth Programs include activities such as basketball, pickleball, football, and soccer. The program uses a gymnasium that can be set up as a full-size basketball court or three pickleball courts, as well as a full-size football and soccer field that is open to the public and available for rent. Local schools and clubs use the football and soccer field for their sports programs.
Palm Harbor Parks & Recreation is managed by the nonprofit Palm Harbor Community Services Agency (PHCSA). PHCSA was established in 1985 according to Pinellas County Ordinance 85-28 to provide library and recreation services to residents of the Palm Harbor Community Services District, funded in part by a 0.5 mills ad valorem tax approved by residents. The leadership team includes Erica Lynford, CPRP, Director; Trish Harrison, CPRP, Assistant Director; Steven Lynford, Recreation Supervisor; Cindy Saathoff, Recreation Coordinator; Beth Schaller, HR Coordinator; Jodie Gilby, Rental Specialist; Anne Neiberger, Recreation Leader 2, Programming; Melanie Chavez, Events & Volunteer Coordinator; and Ed Hooker, Facilities Coordinator. The mission statement for Palm Harbor Parks & Recreation notes that it serves the community with five parks, a variety of activities, and a commitment to fun for everyone. Local residents built Sunderman Park by organizing fundraising and managing construction with help from several local companies, and Palm Harbor Parks & Recreation also manages Pop Stansell Park, a 5-acre waterfront park with a boat ramp to the Intracoastal Waterway and a fishing pier. Pinellas County purchased the Rheba Sutton White Chapel and Harbor Hall property in 1999, and Palm Harbor Parks and Recreation has managed these event venues since 2015. The Hurricane EXPO ’26 includes vendors who provide information about hurricane preparedness that is described as life-saving.
