Girl Scouts of West Central Florida Summer Camp
Camp Wai Lani, 500 Wai Lani Rd, Palm Harbor, FL 34683
About
Girl Scouts of West Central Florida Summer Camp offers activities such as horseback riding (“ride that horse”), climbing (“climb that wall”), target sports (“hit that target”), rowing (“row your way to victory”), swimming, and archery. Campers of similar ages are housed together and take part in activities designed for their age group, with younger campers following set schedules and older campers having more flexibility. Campers may select one cabin mate attending the same session, and cabin mates must mutually select each other.
• Ages: 6–17 years old
• Schedule: Overnight campers arrive on Sundays during the summer season at staggered times by program level, and are picked up on Saturdays at staggered times by program level; day campers can be dropped off between 8–9 a.m. daily and picked up between 4:30–6 p.m.
• Price: Non-members have an additional $45 fee for camp which includes a Girl Scout membership through September 2026, with an option to pay $91 for an extended Girl Scout membership through September 2027.
Girls entering grades 1–12 in fall 2026 can attend summer camp, and no prior Girl Scout experience is needed to attend. Camp sessions are focused on specific ages that align with Girl Scout program levels. Campers must be able to function independently in a 6:1 girl-to-adult ratio.
Accessibility accommodations can be provided for a range of physical, medical, developmental, dietary, behavioral, or communicative abilities, and many programs may be modified to meet specific needs. If a camper has physical restrictions or uses assistive technology such as a wheelchair, crutches, or braces, families are asked to contact the camp directors so camp can plan the best possible experience.
Camp staff are screened through in-depth interviews, multiple reference and background checks, and a drug screening. Camp staff go through more than ten days of training, including CPR and First Aid, safety and risk management, emergency response, activity leadership and outdoor skills, and how to support campers’ mental health, including homesickness and bullying. Staff who supervise specialized activities such as swimming and archery have additional training and qualifications. Camp staff salaries start at $600 per week, and meals and housing are provided for most staff positions.
Girls who wish to participate in the Camp Leadership Program must apply and interview for the program. CIT 1, CIT 2, and Camp Intern registrations are handled manually by the Customer Care Team and cannot be completed online, and the CIT training is aligned with the CIT Awards Girl Scouts can earn and display on their uniform.
The mission of Girl Scouts of West Central Florida Summer Camp follows the Girl Scouting mission: building girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. The program is supported by adult volunteers and mentors in the local community, as well as millions of alums around the globe.
