Afterschool Programs, Youth Sports, Summer & Specialty Camps includes sports programs for youth, adults, and seniors, as well as summer camps and specialty camps. The program also offers after school cares, swim lessons, recreational swimming, aquatics programs, a youth basketball league, an adult fitness room, senior fitness classes, senior craft classes, and mentoring programs for young adults.

The City of Sanford’s Parks and Recreation Department states that it offers a wide variety of sports and recreation programs for all ages and that it strives to offer a variety of quality, affordable leisure activities to meet the physical, mental, cultural and social needs of residents and visitors. The Dr. Velma H. Williams Westside Community Center is described as the community hub for all ages and serves as the home of the Boys & Girls Club of America for after-school care. The Larry A. Dale Aquatic Center features eight 50 meter lanes and twenty 25 yard lanes and can accommodate any aquatic competition in the world, including international water polo and synchronized swimming. Historic Sanford Memorial Stadium is the home of Sanford Babe Ruth Baseball and the Sanford River Rats of the Florida Collegiate Summer League. The leadership team for the City includes Mayor Art Woodruff and Commissioners Sheena Britton (District 1), Kerry S. Wiggins, Sr. (District 2), Patrick Austin (District 3), and Claudia Thomas (District 4).
