About

Mote Summer Camps include hands-on, age-appropriate, inquiry-based activities where campers discover the wonders of marine animals and environments studied by Mote scientists. Campers take part in hands-on activities in a state-of-the-art aquarium, tour labs, meet researchers, and conduct their own STEM projects. Mote Adventure Camp combines Mote’s research with these hands-on, inquiry-based activities, and offers a wide variety of camp themes both onsite and offsite for campers who have completed Kindergarten to 8th grade. Mote STEM Camp is guided by educators, scientists, and aquarists and focuses on building critical thinking and problem-solving skills while developing a deeper understanding of aquatic ecosystems and environmental stewardship. Mote’s Summer High School Program is the first summer camp Mote has offered for high school students, and each day centers on a different field as a marine scientist, including aquaculture, fisheries, and animal care.

Mote Marine Laboratory is an independent, nonprofit marine science institution founded in 1955. Its mission includes nurturing minds in marine science and technology fields as part of its Beyond 2020 Vision & Strategic Plan, championing conservation and the sustainable use of the oceans, and advancing marine science and education leading to new discoveries, revitalization, sustainability, and greater public understanding of the oceans. Mote Aquaculture Research Park, constructed in 2001, spans 200 acres and was built to pioneer sustainable aquaculture technology to help feed the world, restock depleted species, and support development of a viable domestic aquaculture industry in the U.S. The Aquaculture Research Park hosts Mote's International Coral Gene Bank, the Florida Red Tide Mitigation & Technology Development Facility, and includes sustainable marine aquaculture and aquaponics demonstration systems with multiple species of animals and plants. Members receive a 10% discount on Mote Camp and many other Mote Education programs.
