About

EveryOneRocks offers private music lessons and a weekly Rockband Program where students play in a group of peers. In the Rockband Program, students move around between vocals, keyboard, drums, bass, and guitar, and current students and alumni recently did a live, one take, recording of “Bohemian Rhapsody.” Rock bands from EveryOneRocks also participate in a Battle of the Bands, including Rise Above Performing Arts BOTB in Sarasota, and the program offers Summer, Winter, and spring break camps.

• Ages: 5–18 years old
• Schedule: 30–60 minute private instruction and 1–2 hour weekly Rockband Program sessions; rock band students perform with other students from Easter Seals of South West Florida every Friday over the summer

EveryOneRocks states, “At EveryOneRocks we emphasize making music fun and educational!” The program has had a partnership with Easter Seals of South West Florida since 2021, and students in the rock bands perform with other students from Easter Seals of South West Florida every Friday over the summer. The Rockband Program is described as one of the best ways to motivate and engage students of all ages in their musical endeavors, and students go to a bright-purple music studio and jam out to Queen’s “We Are the Champions” with their friends in their own rock band. EveryOneRocks is led by Gene Hodsdon, who graduated from Berklee College of Music in Boston.

EveryOneRocks reports, “We were recently featured in the Sarasota Observer.” Gene Hodsdon says, “It’s the opposite of ‘Follow your passion,’” and explains that he discovered he really loves teaching. He also says, “It’s funny because the music is kind of the easiest part, and the challenging thing is dealing with the people aspect of it,” and adds that if students can develop big picture skills now, it will be a good thing when they are adults.
