Georgia 4-H Environmental Education Program

The Georgia 4-H Environmental Education Program offers day and overnight educational experiences that teach science in the context of the environment, using the outdoors as a classroom without walls or boundaries. The program also complements math, history, and language arts lessons through its environmental education focus. Since 1979, it has provided a network of high-quality day and overnight educational experiences at six 4-H facilities from the mountains to the sea, including Wahsega, Fortson, Rock Eagle, Burton, 4-H Tidelands Nature Center, and Georgia 4-H at Camp Jekyll.

Since 1979, the Georgia 4-H Environmental Education Program has operated as part of the University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. The University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, working cooperatively with Fort Valley State University, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and the counties of Georgia, offers its educational programs, assistance, and materials to all people without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, or protected veteran status and is an Equal Opportunity, Affirmative Action organization.
