About
Fernbank Camps take place at Fernbank, a nonprofit natural history museum, giant screen theater and old-growth forest. The program is part of Fernbank’s broader work bringing science to life through immersive programming and experiences and protecting Fernbank Forest while fulfilling an educational mission to inspire lifelong learning of natural history. Fernbank Camps are connected to an institution that is home to the world’s largest dinosaurs, Atlanta’s biggest movie screen, and one of the largest assemblages of urban Piedmont forest in the United States.
Fernbank officially opened its doors in October 1992, following a commitment that began in 1939 to preserve Fernbank Forest as a school in the woods for nature studies. Fernbank’s mission is to ignite a passion for science, nature and human culture through exploration and discovery. Fernbank is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and is not affiliated with Fernbank Science Center, which operates as a division of DeKalb County Schools. Fernbank is recognized as one of the most popular and iconic cultural attractions in Atlanta.
