Georgia Favor House states that its mission is to motivate and inspire local youth and their families through personal fitness and physical education programs, and to build athletic spirits through engaging and fun recreational activities. The club has been producing champions on and off the track since 2005 and uses the slogan “Let’s Move College Park!”. The organization’s leadership includes Subrenia, President and Founder of Georgia Favor House, and Rex Willis, Sr. Subrenia holds a USATF Level 1 Coach Certification, and Rex Willis, Sr. holds Georgia High School Association Certification and USATF Level 1 Coach Certification.
The It Takes a Village Learning Loss program is designed to provide targeted interventions to students who have experienced significant disruptions to their learning due to the pandemic and to address gaps in foundational skills and knowledge while providing opportunities for students to accelerate their learning and progress towards grade-level standards. The It Takes A Village Food Program operates 8 days a month, addresses food security concerns in the community, and provides healthy snacks and evening meals to the children involved in other programs, with evening meals sent home feeding not only the youth but, in most cases, generations living in the household. The organization’s mission includes providing resources and support programs that create a safe and nurturing environment for the community, including an edible educational garden that provides a space for residents to learn, connect with nature and each other, and access healthy, organic produce. The edible educational garden also provides a safe and enjoyable outdoor space for children to learn about the importance of nutrition and the environment, serves as an effective teaching tool to help educate participants on the importance of sustainability and nutrition, and provides a source of healthy, organic produce. The program also states a goal to provide several awards as well as gifts, grants, and scholarships for children with unlimited potential.
