About

Glisson Camp & Retreat Center offers overnight summer camp programs and year-round retreat experiences in a setting that includes mountain forest, trails, ponds, a clearwater creek, and Cane Creek Falls. Its overnight camp programs include Village, which is a traditional residential camping program, Outpost, which is a beginner-friendly outdoor adventure program, and Sparrowwood, which is an integral program designed for campers with mild to moderate developmental disabilities. Grow Day Camps bring the Glisson experience to local churches across the state of Georgia, and the Experiential Leadership Institute (ELI) is a multi-week immersive leadership development experience for rising 11th–12th graders.

• Ages: 5–18 years old
• Schedule: During retreat season (August–April), limited viewing access is available on weekdays (Mon–Fri) during business hours (9:00–4:30) when there are no retreat groups on-site.

Since 1925, people have gathered at Glisson Camp & Retreat Center for summer camp and group retreats, and the camp was founded by Rev. Fred Glisson in 1925. Glisson is part of the North Georgia Camp & Retreat Ministries of the United Methodist Church’s North Georgia Conference, which also includes Grow Day Camps, Shoreline Camps, and the Experiential Leadership Institute (ELI). Glisson’s mission statement says that it joins with the church to make disciples of Jesus Christ and to nurture leadership by creating experiences in Creation and in Christian community that encourage transformation, growth, and renewal for all people. Glisson emphasizes radical acceptance, Christian community, unconditional love, and experiential learning, and it exists to partner with families and churches in the work of faith formation. Glisson Camp & Retreat Center is accredited by the American Camp Association (ACA). Glisson Camp & Retreat Center also offers an Ecoeternity Forest as an ecologically friendly final resting place. Cane Creek Falls is located on private property, and Glisson is entirely closed to the public while summer camp is in session (May–July) and when retreat groups are on-site.
