Holly Performance Academy Camps and Classes offers a range of theatre and art experiences, including Senior Performance Camp Newsies Jr., Junior Performance Camp Seussical Kids, Newsies Jr. Technical Theatre Camp, Junior Art Camp Behind the Scenes Magic, Directing Camp In The Director’s Chair, Super Sleuth Camp, Once Upon A Stage, and Improv Camp Yes, and…? for different age groups. Campers take part in activities such as prop creation, scenic painting, lighting, sound effects, costumes, props, set design, casting, staging, blocking scenes, directing, improvisation, improv games, scene work, character creation, and storytelling techniques. Several camps conclude with performances or showcases, including interactive and unscripted presentations for families and friends.

The Holly Theater offers year-round performance options for youth in the Dahlonega area through the Holly Performance Academy and also offers after-school productions. The mission of the Holly Theatre is to maintain its historic building and provide the community with Enrichment, Entertainment, and Education. The Holly Theatre holds National Registry of Historical Places Number – 02000080. Camp limits are specified for each camp, typically 15 or 20 campers per camp. Newsies Jr. Technical Theatre Camp, Junior Art Camp Behind the Scenes Magic, Directing Camp In The Director’s Chair, Super Sleuth Camp, Once Upon A Stage, and both Improv Camp Yes, and…? sessions each have stated sign-up cut-off dates in May or June 2025, and several camps list specific June 2026 performance times at The Holly Theatre or The Holly Studio. The Holly Theater thanks the Lumpkin County Board of Commissioners for use of the Old Cannery Building.
Holly Performance Academy Camps and Classes are led by named instructors for each camp: Stephanie Garrett teaches Newsies Jr. Technical Theatre Camp, Directing Camp In The Director’s Chair, and Super Sleuth Camp; Lainey Kennedy teaches Junior Art Camp Behind the Scenes Magic; Kylie Groom Stacy teaches Once Upon A Stage; and Tim Pruitt and Ansleigh Funk teach Improv Camp Yes, and…?. Newsies Jr. Technical Theatre Camp includes exploration of lighting, sound effects, costumes, props, and set design and offers a chance for participants to put these skills on display during performances of Newsies Jr. Junior Art Camp Behind the Scenes Magic concludes with a special gallery showcase. Directing Camp In The Director’s Chair allows students to direct Puffs (One Act for Young Wizards) and ends with a showcase of select scenes. Super Sleuth Camp culminates in an interactive performance where families are invited, Once Upon A Stage ends with a short showcase for families, and the Improv Camps culminate in unscripted or improv showcases for family and friends.
