The Holly Theatre operates as a 501-c-3 non-profit driven by a majority of volunteers with a few staff roles, and the Holly Theatre Community Center Inc. is a private, not-for-profit Georgia corporation. The mission of the Holly Theatre is to maintain its historic building and provide the community with enrichment, entertainment, and education. The theater is described as the Historic Holly Theater and is listed on the National Registry of Historical Places with number 02000080. No seat in the theater is more than seventy feet from the action, and the theater has new elaborate curtains, improved lighting, new backdrops, and automated set changes.
The Holly Theater is engaged in North Georgia communities and thanks the Lumpkin County Board of Commissioners for use of the Old Cannery Building. Through its board members, the organization is involved with Dahlonega Sunrise Rotary, Dahlonega Healing Herds, Good Shepherd Clinic in Dawsonville, the Dahlonega and Dawsonville Chambers of Commerce, the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame in Dawsonville, the Sheriff Volunteer Association, the Dahlonega-Lumpkin Co. Newcomers Club, Bear on the Square, the Arts and Wine Festival, and the Gold Rush Festival.
The leadership team includes David Robertson as Board Chairman, Glenn Whitehead as Vice Chairman, Ryan Mcduffie as Treasurer, Ann Riggs as Secretary, and Taylor Cassell Jarrard as Artistic Director, with Karen Ponder serving as a board member of the Sheriff Volunteer Association and the Dahlonega-Lumpkin Co. Newcomers Club. David Robertson is the current owner and Financial Consultant of the retail Charles Schwab office in Dawsonville and has been in the retail investment and brokerage business since 1989 and a manager or owner in the industry since 1993. Glenn Whitehead maintains the sound system, trains current and upcoming sound designers, has been running sound for theater productions since high school, and spent most of his career in Information Technology management. Ryan Mcduffie is a Purchasing Agent for the Finance Department of the Lumpkin County Board of Commissioners with a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Shorter University and an undergraduate degree from the University of North Georgia. Ann Riggs previously taught in Naples, Florida, for 35 years as both a teacher and quasi administrator. Taylor Cassell Jarrard attended the Gainesville Theater Alliance at Brenau University and has volunteered as an actor, choreographer, director, stage manager, and acting coach at the Holly since 2013.
