Dunwoody Nature Center Camps & Nature Programs offers a wide range of nature-based options including Summer Camps, School Break Camps, Forest School, Oakwood Forest Preschool, Camp Eagle Nature Program, Early Education Classes, Homeschool Nature Classes, and My Chickadee & Me Nature Classes. The program also offers Scouts Programs, School Field Trips, field study programs for 7 grades (K–6), Outreach & Classroom Visits, Milkweed In The Classroom, and overnight camping programs. Additional activities include the Butterfly Experience, Breakfast with the Bees, Monarchs and Margaritas, Perimeter Pumpkin Patch, Adult Programs, Adult & Community Programs, Beekeeping School, the Master Naturalist Adult Education Course, Junior Counselors, birthday parties, children’s birthday parties, venue rentals, weddings, corporate volunteering, and 12 months of scheduled nature classes and special events.

Dunwoody Nature Center Camps & Nature Programs takes place within Dunwoody Nature Center’s 22 acres of forest, playground, and trails, which are free and open to the public year-round with no admission fee and park hours from sunrise to sunset, seven days a week. The site includes the Wildcat Creek Learning Lab and park projects such as a Stream and Wetland Improvement Project, along with an environmental improvement approach that removes invasive, nonnative plants and replaces them with native species, avoids mowing and heavy trimming to allow plants and trees to complete their life cycles, cuts fallen trees only when needed to clear or reroute trails, isolates garbage cans to picnic areas, and reminds dog owners to follow leash and poop scoop laws.

The organization states a mission to inspire the love of nature and cultivate environmental understanding and stewardship through conservation of its 22 acres of forest, education programs for children, families, and adults, and motivation of environmental awareness in all ages. Its educational philosophy includes providing information about plants and animals native to Dunwoody and the Piedmont, exploring relationships among all inhabitants and the impact of human activities, training children to be “backyard naturalists,” and offering educational experiences that appeal to different learning styles. The center has a diversity, equity, and inclusion policy that embraces and encourages differences in multiple characteristics.

Dunwoody Nature Center is a 501(C)3 nonprofit that is entirely community supported and relies on volunteers including individuals, students, corporations, service organizations, and other groups to help with projects and special events. The center reports approximately 30,000++ park visitors annually and approximately 17,000++ people served through camps, programs, or education center visitation. Membership benefits include savings on camps, classes, rentals, and more, and volunteer opportunities are available for a range of groups.
