Boys & Girls Clubs of Lanier has been opening doors to lifelong success since 1954 and was formerly known as the Gainesville-Hall County Boys Club. The organization’s mission is to inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need them most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens. The Clubs report serving over 4,300 youth annually, with more than 1,000 members served daily, supported by more than 200 employees and 400 volunteers providing guidance and education. Reported member data include that 88% of teens plan to pursue higher education after high school, 53% of teen Club members volunteer at least once a month, and 65% of Club members are physically active at least 5 days a week. The Youth of the Year program is identified as a key program, and CEO Steven Mickens has described it as the cornerstone of what they do. The Club states that it does whatever it takes to inspire and enable Great Futures in Hall, Habersham and Forsyth Counties and credits generous community partners, including Milton Martin Toyota, with helping provide youth development programs and support such as donated food for staff events.
