Boys & Girls Clubs of Lanier After-School & Summer Programs are part of an organization that has been opening doors to lifelong success since 1954 and was formerly known as the Gainesville-Hall County Boys Club. The mission of Boys & Girls Clubs of Lanier is to inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need them most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens. The organization reports 23 Club Sites, over 4,300 youth served annually, and 1,000+ members served daily, with more than 200 employees and 400 volunteers providing guidance and education. Reported member outcomes include 88% of teens planning to pursue higher education after high school, 53% of teen Club members volunteering at least once a month, and 65% of Club members being physically active at least 5 days a week. Programs are aimed at ensuring the kids served succeed in school, live healthy lives, and give back to their communities. The organization highlights that 2025 Youth of the Year winner Jaemy represents the Boys & Girls Clubs of Lanier and the community at the state level and beyond. Community involvement includes work in Hall, Habersham, and Forsyth Counties and partnerships with organizations such as Milton Martin Toyota. Staff activities have included a Halloween Luncheon Party with donations from The Honey Baked Ham Company on Thompson Bridge Road in Gainesville and Wild Wing Cafe. Leadership includes Steven Mickens, CEO at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Lanier. Testimonials from Facebook comments include statements such as “A very special young man! Keep up the great work Messiah,” “He is amazing - loved hearing him at the dinner recently!,” and a question about a holiday event in downtown Buford.
