5 Star Childcare Learning Center

5 Star Childcare Learning Center is part of a network of early childhood education schools operated under Otter Learning’s leadership and standards. The program uses an exclusive curriculum and offers a learning environment filled with activities that are described as both challenging and fun. Professional educators use recognized and developmentally appropriate milestones in partnership with parents, and the school follows a mission of “Be Safe. Be Kind. Grow Together.”

Otter Learning describes a holistic approach that encourages children to ask questions, solve problems, and develop emotional intelligence inside and outside of the classroom. The program states a commitment to inclusion that nurtures strengths and celebrates diversity, and schools in this network are described as a safe haven, or “holt,” for children and the community to develop independence, make mistakes, and enjoy the freedom of learning. The school design and natural environments are described as intentional, with both traditional classrooms and outdoor natural spaces where students plant, grow, and harvest. Otter Learning states that it is committed to teaching students and families principles of respecting and restoring their environment, leaving communities better than they found them, and involving families as active partners in the education experience. Their community of River Keepers gathers for events and focuses on stewardship of the neighborhoods where they work, serve, teach, and play.
