Georgia Dance Conservatory offers training in ballet, jazz, tap, contemporary, conditioning, pre-pointe, beginning pointe, intermediate pointe, and advanced pointe. Dancers in the Company Division may perform in Georgia Dance Conservatory’s annual Recital, Georgia Metro Dance Theatre’s The Nutcracker, Georgia Metro Dance Theatre’s Spring Show, and additional Georgia Metro Dance Theatre performances throughout the season.

Georgia Dance Conservatory is the official school of Georgia Metro Dance Theatre, a student-based dance company producing professional quality dance and ballet performances in Cobb County, Marietta, GA. More than 100 dancers ages 7–18 are trained through Georgia Dance Conservatory’s Company Division program, which includes preparation for dancing en pointe and requires placement by audition.
Pre-Theatre I and Pre-Theatre II each include Georgia Dance Conservatory classes one day per week for two hours, including ballet and jazz, with Georgia Metro Dance Theatre rehearsals on Sundays, and performances in Georgia Dance Conservatory’s annual Recital and Georgia Metro Dance Theatre’s The Nutcracker. Apprentice Theatre I includes classes two days per week for 3.5 hours, including ballet and jazz, with Sunday rehearsals and performances in the annual Recital, The Nutcracker, and the Spring Show. Apprentice Theatre II includes classes two days per week for 4.5 hours, including ballet, jazz, and pre-pointe, with Sunday rehearsals and performances in the annual Recital, The Nutcracker, and the Spring Show. Apprentice Theatre III includes classes three days per week for 5.75 hours, including ballet, jazz, beginning pointe, and conditioning for dancers, with Sunday rehearsals and performances in the annual Recital, The Nutcracker, and the Spring Show. Apprentice Theatre IV includes classes four days per week for 6.75 hours, including ballet, contemporary, beginning pointe, and conditioning for dancers, with Sunday rehearsals and performances in the annual Recital, The Nutcracker, and the Spring Show.
Theatre I (Pre-Professional Level) includes classes four days per week for 7.25 hours, including ballet, contemporary, intermediate pointe, and conditioning for dancers, with Georgia Metro Dance Theatre rehearsals on Saturdays and Sundays for up to eight hours per weekend, and performances in the annual Recital, The Nutcracker, and the Spring Show. Theatre II (Pre-Professional Level) includes classes five days per week for 8.5 hours, including ballet, contemporary, advanced pointe, and conditioning for dancers, with rehearsals on Saturdays and Sundays for up to eight hours per weekend, and performances in the annual Recital, The Nutcracker, the Spring Show, and additional performances throughout the year. Georgia Dance Conservatory’s Teen Contemporary classes include exploration of the natural gravitational connection to movement and encourage dancers to fully embrace their unique emotion and artistry while striving for technical execution.
At Georgia Dance Conservatory, each discipline has a specific focus, including alignment, strength, flexibility, memorization, coordination, and performance, and all students receive the same level of attention and guidance regardless of their aspirations. Georgia Metro Dance Theatre was founded by Atlanta dance pioneer Ruth Mitchell in 1956 and is one of the oldest non-profit arts organizations in Georgia. Ashleigh and Gray are the new owners of Georgia Dance Conservatory and have new roles at Georgia Dance Conservatory and Georgia Metro Dance Theatre.
