Southern Soccer Academy Swarm FC Youth Programs offer youth soccer programs that include local recreational soccer leagues and multiple levels of elite competitive soccer leagues at the state, regional, and national levels. The Recreational program is described as local, low-cost, and parent and volunteer-coached, with a no try-out/no cut policy and encouragement for players of all ability levels to participate. The SSA Player Development Academy (U5–U7 Pre-Academy Program) runs separately from the Recreational program and aims to accelerate the technical and tactical development of players preparing for the U8–U10 Academy program.
For the Pre-Academy, U8–U10 Academy, U11–U12 SCCL Academy, and U13–U19 Competitive programs, there is no direct registration in the Playmetrics platform, and players must attend an assessment or tryout and receive an invite. The U11–U12 SCCL Academy program is described as a bridge between the Pre-Competitive Academy program and the U13 and older Competitive program. The Competitive program offers elite-level, professional-staff-coached teams and includes participation in MLS Next, Girls Academy (GAL), NAL, GAL Aspire, DPL, N1L, and SCCL leagues, as well as local Recreational Leagues.
Southern Soccer Academy Swarm FC is part of a club whose membership exceeds 10,000 players on more than 600 teams, and it is described as one of the largest soccer clubs in the Southeastern US. SSA has locations in Bartow, Cobb, Coweta, Fulton, and Paulding counties and partners with multiple City and County Parks and Recreation Departments to be the official provider of soccer programs to their residents and to access various soccer complexes. The club, in its various forms, has existed since 1982, with Southern Soccer Academy formed in 2012 through a merger of several metro Atlanta soccer clubs, and Southern Soccer Academy Swarm FC coming about in 2024 as a collaboration between Intrepid Sports and Brentford FC of the English Premier League, serving as the flagship club for that partnership.
