About
Camp Hooray (esp Summer Camp) includes outdoor adventures, art, music, swimming, science experiments, sports, cooking, group games, creative projects, and dancing in the rec hall. At esp Summer Camp, every participant is paired with a dedicated buddy in a 2:1 participant-to-staff ratio and activities are guided by the esp 360 approach. The program currently offers six weeks of day camp and two weeks of overnight programming, with Hooray Day Camps as local, week-long day camps.
• Ages: 5–18 years old
• Schedule: Multiple week-long summer sessions in Athens, Atlanta, Rome, and Savannah
• Price: At esp, no family is ever turned away due to financial need. Scholarships are available for those who qualify.
Camp Hooray is described as the ultimate summer destination for participants of all ages and is designed with accessibility and inclusion at its core. It is described as the first-of-its-kind, fully accessible overnight camp for children and young adults with disabilities. Camp Hooray is guided by esp’s mission: “esp exists to create transformative experiences for people with disabilities and their families, changing communities for the better!” At esp Summer Camp, every activity is described as being designed to foster connection, joy, and a sense of belonging, and campers are encouraged to try new things, form meaningful relationships, and enjoy summer at their own pace and in their own way.
Camp Hooray is part of a broader network of programs that includes volunteer opportunities to support a participant as their buddy, employment for people with disabilities through Java Joy and SEEABILITY, and year-round programming and family support through esp 360. The organization notes 39 YEARS OF SUPPORT and offers transformative summer camp experiences through Hooray.
Camp Hooray is being developed through a groundbreaking partnership with the University of Georgia and Georgia Tech, and the 90-acre site serves as a living laboratory for students and faculty to develop innovative structural and landscape designs that prioritize accessibility and inclusion. The program also invites partnerships through a network of sponsors and partners that support a range of enriching programs.
Parents describe their experiences with esp and Camp Hooray in several testimonials. One parent, Evey, says, “I can't be but be amazed with the level of love and care ESP shows everyone in their community... Thank you so much for loving on my child and everyone with all abilities!” Another parent, Jamie, shares, “I get to meet and love a lot of families who have disabled kiddos and truly ‘get me.’ The support that we receive always amazes me. They always go over and beyond any expectations. Jeremy will always have a place to go where he is not only served, but celebrated.” A third parent, Brandi, says, “If someone said ‘what could you do to make ESP better?’ I don’t think I could come up with one thing, except to spread it around.”
