The program also includes character education focused on kindness, integrity, and other values, anti-bias and conflict resolution skills that teach children to respect the viewpoints of others, candle-making workshops, community involvement and service activities, and a Summer Camp.

The Child Enrichment Program is a high-quality year-round program that serves children in the Alton, Roxana, and Wood River-Hartford School Districts and accepts CCAP payments through CHASI and DCFS collaborations. The program states that it helps children achieve and maintain a positive sense of self through academic, cognitive, social, physical, and creative development in an environment that is clean, safe, and nurturing. Families receive one week of vacation during the calendar year, with 5 days for full-time children and 3 days for part-time children, during which parents and guardians are not required to pay, and a reduction in fees due to absence because of extended illness or extenuating family circumstances may be considered at the discretion of the Executive Director.
YWCA Southwestern Illinois, which runs the Child Enrichment Program, was established in 1918 and is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all. The Child Enrichment Director is Gabby Joyce, and the Assistant Director of Child Enrichment is Brooke Krankel.
The program includes opportunities to learn with community involvement and service. One parent, Sarah Eagan from the North location, describes the Child Enrichment Program as a huge blessing to her family, noting the available times, school holiday coverage, different types of activities, and the care and concern shown for her daughter, and states that her family has loved their first year with the program, plans to participate for many more years, and recommends it to many family and friends.
