About

Camp One Step provides free year-round camp experiences for kids with cancer and their families. The program offers both in-person and digital camps, including a Digital Family Camp held online via Zoom. Camp One Step also includes a Camp One Step Heroes program for returning campers ages 5 and older, along with Milwaukee Day Camp and Brain Tumor Family Camp sessions.

Camp One Step serves kids with cancer who are newly diagnosed, in treatment, or in remission, as well as their siblings and their parents. The organization has more than 45 years of experience and has served over 20,000 campers with the support of more than 400 volunteers. Its mission states that it provides free year-round camp experiences for kids with cancer and their families that foster joy, belonging, confidence, and lifelong friendships. Inclusion, accessibility, connections, and empowerment are listed as core parts of this mission.

The leadership team includes Devin Ryan-Holanda (Vice President of Camps & Experiences), Jessica Hopper (Director of Camps & Experiences), Lucy Burzynski (Manager of Camps & Experiences), Madeline Brown (Manager of Camps & Experiences), Susie Burke (Medical Director), Erin Senft (Medical Manager), Paige Hoesley (Vice President of Philanthropy), Jill Kulbok Carlson (Director of Philanthropy), Tara Bond (Manager of Philanthropy), and Hannah Smith-Davis (Manager of Philanthropy). Children’s Oncology Services, Inc., which runs Camp One Step, is a registered 501(c)3. Community support includes generous corporations and organizations that back the mission, and fundraisers include the Camp Is Gold Gala, Charity Poker Championship, One Swing for Camp One Step, Camp One Step Golf Classic, and marathon events.
