Before School, After School, and Early Learning Programs

Before School, After School, and Early Learning Programs are part of the Y’s early learning, child care, and out-of-school time offerings. At the Y, infants develop trust and security, preschoolers experience early literacy and learn about their world, and school-age kids make friends, learn new skills, and get help with their schoolwork. These programs take place within YMCA settings that may include spaces such as gyms, pools, youth gyms, fitness centers, early childhood centers, computer labs, libraries, multi-purpose rooms, and outdoor fields, as well as areas like climbing walls, running tracks, and teen centers.

The Y’s early learning, child care, and out-of-school time offerings are staffed with people who understand the cognitive, physical, and social development of kids, the support parents and families need, and the importance of maintaining a safe, clean environment for children to learn and thrive. The National Association of Elementary School Principals has identified the Y as a partner for afterschool programming, and the Y and the Walmart Foundation have partnered together to help provide food to children who need it most.
