YMCA Camp Programs include day camps, overnight camps, family camps, and specialty camps. These programs take place at YMCA facilities that may feature areas such as gyms, pools, climbing walls, ropes challenge courses, ice and roller skating rinks, tennis courts, skateboard parks, fitness centers, youth gyms, and multi-purpose rooms, as well as spaces like chapels, libraries, computer labs, and teen centers. YMCA camp options include specialty programs focused on interests such as teen adventure, music, sports, and cooking, along with programs designed for medical and mental health challenges or other special needs.

In 2020, Ys nationwide served 364,910 kids and teens at resident and day camps, and provided more than 1,400 day camp programs in the United States. The Y has more than 200 overnight camps for kids and teens, along with specialty camps, and YMCA day camps operate in rural, urban, and suburban settings while campers return home each afternoon. Y overnight camp experiences can range from one weekend to an entire season, and Y family camps are available for families to attend together.

Tim Joyce is described as a former camper and was CEO of the YMCA of Greater Richmond from 2013 to 2020. Shawn Morrison is Senior Vice President of Philanthropy at the YMCA of Greater Richmond and a former YMCA camp counselor. Nat Corrall is Director of Child and Youth Development at the YMCA of San Diego County, and Mia Kelliher is a camp director at the Rancho Family YMCA’s day camp.

The YMCA collaborates with community leaders to bring healthy living within reach of all people. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Y and the Walmart Foundation partnered to help provide food to children who need it most.
