The Community Dance Program offers classes and samplers in Musical Theater Dance, Hip Hop, Teen/Adult Ballet II, Basic Ballet, and Pre-Dance, as well as several themed summer dance samplers such as Summer Swans: Ballet Sampler, All That Jazz! Summer Dance Sampler, Tutus and Twirls! Summer Dance Sampler, and Petite Pirouettes: Summer Dance Sampler. Summer 2026 dance classes run as 5-week classes, and Three Day Summer Samplers are offered as three day sessions.

The Community Dance Program at Northeastern is a dance and body movement curriculum designed with the beginning/intermediate student in mind, and the various courses offered are age-appropriate and cater to participants from the community-at-large. Sessions run each fall, winter/spring, and summer, and the program is offered through the Office of Community and Professional Education (CAPE) at Northeastern Illinois University. All dance program policies and guidelines are enacted to create a safe environment in which students can learn safely and have fun. For Pre-Ballet and Basic Ballet, students wear a solid-colored leotard with tights and ballet shoes, with hair in a bun or pulled off the face. For Jazz and Musical Theater, students wear a preferably solid-colored leotard with tights and black shorts or jazz pants, along with jazz shoes or jazz sneakers and hair off the face. For Hip Hop, students wear a T-shirt or leotard with shorts or jazz pants and jazz sneakers or non-street sneakers, with hair secured back from the face. No jewelry such as necklaces and bracelets is permitted, food, gum, and drinks other than water are prohibited inside the studio, and cell phone or electronic device use during class is not allowed. Courses with fewer than six students enrolled may be canceled.
