Extensions Dance Center Youth Training Program

Extensions Dance Center Youth Training Program offers classes in ballet, jazz, contemporary, hip hop, tap, ballroom, and jumps/turns. The program also includes dance and performing arts classes as part of its regular offerings. Extensions Dance Center states that it provides a warm and inviting environment for young dancers of any age, skill, and experience level to study the art form in whatever discipline they choose. The program notes that it prides itself on the cultivation of great young artists and well-rounded human beings who contribute to society in a positive way. Extensions is described as the home of Chicago's premier youth dance company and as being for everyone, with all ages and all levels of experience.

The youth training program uses the same faculty as the company programs and includes a studio showcase performance at the end of the year. There is no minimum required class schedule for the youth training program. Company experiences are available by audition for dancers who wish to take their training to an elite level, and company programs offer numerous performing opportunities throughout the year, chances to work closely with leading choreographers and coaches, and competition and convention experiences.

Extensions Dance Company Petite Company starts at 4 class hours per week, with older members committing to 9 or more class hours per week. Chicago City Classical Ballet members commit to a minimum of 10.5 class training hours per week as well as private lessons in both classical and contemporary work. Kidz Movin’ Hip Hop Crew members commit to a minimum of one hip hop class per week and a 1+ hour rehearsal per week. Twinkle Stars Academy is listed for ages 2.5–5.

Students have the opportunity to participate in classes taught by some of the industry’s top professionals. The 2025-26 season of classes is described as including a team of faculty in the Chicagoland area and a diverse list of class offerings. Registration is open for the 2025-26 year, registration for winter/spring closes February 28, and registration for summer opens on April 1st. Dress codes and an online store are available.

Faculty are described as hand selected for their extensive teaching and dancing resumes, along with their love for teaching and compassion for young people.
