Movement Revolution youth and teen hip hop programs focus on street dance styles such as breaking, popping, locking, waving, litefeet, and other club and social dances. The program offers weekly classes, a week-long summer camp, and school-based workshops that explore movement genres from hip hop culture while keeping the original classic hip hop flavor and mixing it with contemporary styles.

Movement Revolution youth and teen hip hop programs are part of Movement Revolution Dance Crew (MRDC), a non-profit performing arts organization with three divisions: Movement Revolution Dance Crew for adults, Movement Revolution Future Crew for teens, and Movement Revolution Youth Crew for ages 8–13 years old. MRDC was founded in 2010 by Chicago native Monternez “Monte” Rezell, who serves as Founder and Artistic Director. Monte is a hip hop practitioner, performing artist, and street dancer who excels as an emcee, DJ, graffiti artist, and creator of music and clothing, and has mastered various street dance styles including breaking, locking, popping, and tumbling. Monte has appeared on America’s Got Talent, was selected for the USA dance team, competed in the Dance Olympics, and earned a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records.
MRDC’s mission is to serve youth and adults in Chicago through classes, workshops, and performances that feature multiple artistic disciplines within the five elements of hip hop culture, using these elements to share “Peace, Love, Unity and Having Fun” and to provide public arts programming that is authentic to the history and culture of hip hop. The organization offers an original curriculum called “Healthy Hip Hop” and stages a yearly public performance titled “Jammin’ with the Boombox” to showcase each of the five elements of hip hop throughout the show. MRDC hosts both a professional and pre-professional dance company with dancers from diverse backgrounds and performs in over 20 venues in and around the greater Chicago area, while also creating dance, producing community events, producing an annual concert, teaching youth programs, and providing enrichment through community engagement.
