Movement Revolution Dance Crew (MRDC) is a non-profit performing arts organization serving youth and adults in Chicago through classes, workshops, and performances that feature multiple artistic disciplines within the five elements of Hip Hop culture, and it offers multiple programs that feature these five elements in different ways. There are three divisions in the Movement Revolution Dynasty: Movement Revolution Dance Crew for adults, Movement Revolution Future Crew for teens, and Movement Revolution Youth Crew for ages 8–13, and these programs provide training for dancers who want to learn about the history, culture, and technique of Hip Hop and street dance. Since 2015, MRDC has staged a yearly public performance titled “Jammin' with the Boombox” at the Old Town School of Folk Music to showcase each of the five elements of Hip Hop throughout the show.

Artistic Director and founder Monternez “Monte” Rezell is a hip hop practitioner, performing artist, and street dancer who excels as an emcee, DJ, graffiti artist, and creator of music and clothing, and he has mastered various street dance styles including breaking, locking, popping, and tumbling. Monte has taught and performed across the United States and internationally in Jamaica, China, Germany, France, and Canada, and his choreography has impacted numerous crews, companies, studios, and competition teams nationwide. Monte has appeared on America’s Got Talent, was selected for the USA dance team, competed in the Dance Olympics, and earned a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records. Movement Revolution Youth Crew and Movement Revolution Future Crew are directed by Monte Rezell and Dana Christy.

MRDC teaches a program called “Healthy Hip Hop,” which is a dance and performing arts program that serves youth in underresourced neighborhoods and teaches students the value of positive art, Peace, Love, Unity, and Having Fun. Members of Movement Revolution Dance Crew travel to various elementary and high schools teaching “Healthy Hip Hop,” and MRDC offers summer camps and school-based workshops featuring this original curriculum. MRDC creates dance, produces community events, produces an annual concert, teaches youth programs, and provides enrichment through community engagement, and with the support of the Chicago Human Rhythm Project and a residency at Mayfair Arts Center, MRDC has maintained a consistent performance schedule.

Movement Revolution Dance Crew (MRDC) was founded in 2010. Since 2015, MRDC has staged a yearly public performance at the Old Town School of Folk Music titled “Jammin' with the Boombox.” Students have described the Youth Hip Hop Summer Camp by saying, “For four years running our students have called this the ‘Best Camp Ever!’”
