The Pre-K Director is Lilly Corrigan, the Jr. Camp Director is Lena Burke, and the Sr. Camp Director is Ann Tucker. Encore’s mission is to cultivate the innate musical abilities within each individual and to provide a welcoming and nurturing environment to all who learn and teach there. Encore Music Academy states that music can empower change, inspire hope, build community, and that all people, all ages, and all abilities can experience the life-changing power of music.
All ages at camp have the chance to explore visual art in addition to music. In the past, exploration in dance, art, drumming, steel pans, guitar/uke, recorder, keyboard, and violin have been offered. Need-based financial aid is available to all families and individuals, and tuition covers only 70% of Encore Music Academy’s total cost for each musician to be a part of their programs. Encore Music Academy reports 2,300+ enrolled annually, 150+ programs, $55,000 given in tuition assistance every year, and 55 different communities served. The organization offers four choirs arranged by age and experience for grades 1–12, three youth orchestras organized by experience for grades 3–12, summer camps and programs for all ages from birth to senior adult, Music Together® for ages birth–6 with a caregiver, and music therapy for people of all ages and abilities. Programs are open to all, celebrate diversity, and include performances in concerts, tours, and festivals.
One parent from the Swanson family describes Encore as the best thing they have done to help their kids grow musically and notes it has been a fabulous experience for both children in musical ability and socially with like-minded musicians. Another parent, Emily Holland, calls Encore a wonderful organization and says her children love summer music camp and look forward to choir each season. Encore Youth Choir alum Aidan O’Connor reports developing fundamental musicianship with stellar instructors and passionate peers and describes Encore as nurturing a fascination into a lifelong passion. Adult choir member Jenny Oberbillig states she has sung with Voices in Harmony for 23 years and describes wrapping herself in harmonies and lyrics while singing with friends who have become family.
