Museum Explorers Summer Camp is a Cultural Arts Summer Camp for Kids designed for children entering grades 2–5 in the 2026–27 school year, with a structured camp format and daily lesson plans that incorporate age-appropriate activities. Campers learn about the history of the United States in honor of the country’s 250th Anniversary, and camp activities require taking a bus or Metra train for transportation to off-site locations. Camp size is limited to 20 participants per session, and due to popular demand, a second camp session was added with the same curriculum presented during both sessions. The camp is managed by experienced museum staff professionals with trained assistants.
The Elmhurst History Museum, founded in 1957, is an award-winning regional history museum that engages people with history through its collection, archives, exhibits, and educational experiences. The museum is located in the historic Glos Mansion, the former home of Elmhurst’s first village president, Henry Glos, and his wife, Lucy, built around 1892. The Elmhurst History Museum also operates the Churchville Schoolhouse, built around 1850 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, which provides an authentic living history experience led by an old-fashioned schoolmarm from the early 1900s by appointment.
