About

Tri-Star Gymnastics offers gymnastics, tumbling, trampoline, recreational gymnastics, and classes for children and families. The program also offers Family Fun events, birthday parties, and camps in its main gym and north gym. Children can take part in both regular classes and special events that use the gym equipment.

• Ages: 1–17 years old
• Price: Family Fun: COST: $12/CHILD

Tri-Star Gymnastics offers age-appropriate classes for pre-schoolers and kindergarteners, as well as skill-based classes for students in grade school and up. There are classes for toddlers to participate in with their “special adult,” “Mini-Star” classes for 3, 4, 5 and 6 year olds, and “Beginner / Advanced Beginner” classes for 6 to 9 year olds. The program includes classes in both gymnastics and tumbling for older boys and girls of various skill levels, along with “All-Star” and “Fast Track” classes for children who like gymnastics but are not ready to make a team commitment. The total program also includes “Tumbling & Trampoline” classes, “GIJO Team” (Junior Olympics), and “USAG Team” (the national age group program for both boys and girls).

Family Fun is designed for families with young children to enjoy indoor physical activities with their parents, or for friends and siblings of Tri-Star students to see what is happening at the gym. All Family Fun events are open to everyone, with children 6 and under participating with caregiver supervision, and children at Family Fun are free to try out the equipment or show what they are learning in class. Birthday parties are offered on a very limited basis on select Saturdays and Sundays.

Tri-Star Gymnastics was founded by Coaches Kris Wright, Willie Washington and Lynn Allen and was later joined by Margie Gilchrist. Tri-Star Gymnastics has been offering instruction since 1987. It is a nonprofit and tax-exempt organization that has been offering instruction in gymnastics, tumbling, and trampoline to children and families from Oak Park, River Forest, Forest Park and the Chicagoland area since 1987. Tri-Star’s philosophy is that gymnastics can be fun for everyone, and that it is not just the learning of skills that is important, but also the process of learning, including patience, courage, self-discipline, and recognizing and building on personal strengths. The program states that children should come out of the gym with a sense of satisfaction that they are challenged to do fun new things, that they are improving skills, and that they are individuals who are accepted and cared about.
