About
On Course Riding Academy Summer Program includes hands-on activities such as grooming, feeding, leading and grazing horses, and pony bath time. Participants learn horsemanship, horse and pony anatomy, horse colors and markings, behavior and environment, horse health and first aid, and how to properly use and care for tack and equipment. The program also features horseback riding, mounted and unmounted games, scavenger hunts, pony painting, horse and pony themed arts and crafts, and pony play time.
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m., with sessions running from June 8th through August 7th; before and aftercare are available upon prior request.
• Price: $100.00 per day per child, with a two-day minimum.
On Course Riding Academy’s summer camp specializes in furthering the student’s knowledge about riding, horse care, and horse science, and the program is separated by skill and knowledge level so each participant is learning something new. It is a very active program, and the academy recommends that kids with little to no riding experience take a private lesson before their Summer Program sessions. All riders are asked to bring a lunch, water, and sunscreen, and proper barn attire is required.
On Course Riding Academy is a USHJA-recognized and SafeSport-Certified Hunt Seat Equestrian Center and is described as Chicagoland’s Premier Hunt Seat Equestrian Center. The academy accommodates a herd of over 20 schoolmaster horses, is proudly family-owned and operated, and has helped riders accomplish their biggest goals, develop stellar horsemanship, and compete at high-level horse shows for nearly 20 years. On Course’s USHJA-certified trainers have years of professional experience and work with riders ranging from those who have never touched a horse to riders with an extensive competitive background. The program uses beginner-friendly, user-friendly online booking software for sign-ups.
