• Schedule: Classes run all year long, with enrollment available at any time; Gemini will be closed from Monday, 12/22–Sunday, 1/4 and will re-open for classes on Monday, 1/5.
• Price: What Gemini offers are gymnastics classes with a low teacher-to-student ratio, and excellent instruction at an incredible price in a fantastic new facility!
Gemini Gymnastics Academy offers Tiny Twistars programs for ages 2–5, girls gymnastics programs for ages 5 and up, co-ed tumbling programs for ages 6 and up, and co-ed ninja classes for ages 4 and up. The gym describes itself as the Chicago area’s cleanest gym, with a fantastic new facility that is very toddler-friendly and always decorated for the season or a special theme. Classes are described as having a low teacher-to-student ratio, with individual attention and high quality instruction in a positive, nurturing gym that uses people-first, positive coaching with a growth mindset focus. The program uses the Powerful Words Character Development Curriculum, a character education program developed by Child & Adolescent Development Specialist Robyn J.A. Silverman, PhD, within the context of organized gymnastics lessons, and states that this program helps students develop socially and cognitively as well as physically. Gemini states that many former students have returned to teach at the gym years later. Gemini has been part of the La Grange community since 2005 and offers an app available on Apple and Android devices.
The mission of Gemini Gymnastics Academy is to provide a positive, people-first, memorable experience in the gym for all, with lessons that can be used for a lifetime. The program states that it meets each child where they are and teaches the child first and the sport second, with kindness and positive coaching while instilling a growth mindset in a safe, fun, and professional environment. Gemini states that it teaches kids to be joyful learners and enables them to grow physically and mentally strong, and that the gym was created out of a desire to offer an experience where people, especially children, are important. The program states that it strives to be different from other child-centered programs, bases every decision on its students, and understands how teaching children can touch their lives for years to come.
Parent and student testimonials describe Gemini as “the best,” “such a special gym,” and “absolutely amazing,” and mention enthusiastic, kind instructors and coaches who are described as knowledgeable, encouraging, patient, and smiling. Families note low teacher-to-student ratios, care and personalization of instruction, and a family atmosphere that builds self-esteem and confidence through kindness, discipline, hard work, and mutual respect. Several parents mention specific classes such as Sparklers and the XCEL Team, and individual coaches such as Ms. Carrie, Coach Quinn, and “coach yellow.” Testimonials also highlight that the facility is toddler-friendly and always decorated for the season or a special theme, that yoga is offered alongside gymnastics, and that some families have attended since Gemini first opened in 2005, with children who have trained there for several years and, in some cases, switched back to Gemini after trying other gyms.
