Camps are based on the grade the child will be entering in the fall and are organized into theme weeks such as Barnyard Bash, Camp Hollywood, Out of This World Week, Holiday Hoopla, Shark Week, Sports Week, Kitchen Chemistry, Heroes vs. Villains, and Camp Camporee. Camp Mighty Munchkins is for kids who like adventure and fun, Camp Trailblazers fosters an atmosphere that is encouraging for every camper, Camp Discovery Crew is an outdoor-based camp with a focus on group games, arts and crafts, and individual and team sports, and Adventure Camp is designed for youth to grow, increase self-confidence and self-esteem, take risks, broaden horizons, discover new strengths, develop values and respect, and form new friendships.

Field trips and swimming are included in the fee for some camps, and each child receives a t-shirt for various camps to be worn on field trip days. Each registered camper in Camp Mighty Munchkins, Camp Trailblazers, Camp Discovery Crew, and Adventure Camp receives a t-shirt to wear on field trip days. Each child in Camp Mighty Munchkins is asked to bring a lunch, snack, and reusable water bottle with their name on it every day, Trailblazers are asked to bring lunch, morning and afternoon snacks, water bottles with their name on them, tennis shoes, and sunscreen, and campers in Camp Discovery Crew and Adventure Camp are asked to bring a sack lunch, labeled reusable water bottle, and an afternoon snack each day.

Registration for Regular Day Camp (9am–3pm) opens February 18 at 10am for residents and February 25 at 10am for non-residents, and registration for Before and After Care for all camp participants opens March 4 at 10am. There is an auto-debit of the card for each week’s balance on the Monday two weeks before each week of camp, and a second child (and third, etc.) in one family household enrolled in specified camps for the same session receives a 10% discount. Refund requests made prior to two weeks before the camp week incur a $50 cancellation charge, refund requests made inside of two weeks from the start of the camp week are non-refundable and the full fee is charged, and there are no prorates or refunds for missed days of summer camp.

The mission statement for Summer Day Camps states that the programs are carefully crafted and offer a blend of outdoor adventures, engaging activities, and opportunities for lasting friendships, and that each day is filled with laughter and learning. The Park District of La Grange, which runs Summer Day Camps, has been awarded a $100,000 grant from the United States Tennis Association (USTA) to support improvements to the tennis courts at Gilbert Park. The BASE and Camp Supervisor for these camps is Andrew Vogrin.
