The Dance Center of La Grange states that dance is an art, not a competition, and describes its environment as nurturing and inclusive, with a focus on technique, creativity, and personal growth. The program offers a free trial class. The Dance Center of La Grange also sells branded merchandise including clothing, decals, yard signs, and a teddy bear.
The leadership team includes Directors Dana Fry and Brittany Smith. This is Dana Fry’s 20th year teaching at Dance Center of La Grange, and Brittany Smith has taught there for fourteen years. Peggy Herman is starting her 21st year teaching at Dance Center of La Grange and has studied ballet since age 9, including ballet and jazz at Daley College of Chicago, where she was captain of the Pom Pons squad, and she has continued to study ballet at the School of Salt Creek Ballet for more than 25 years. Kim Pinkston has been teaching part-time with Dance Center of La Grange since 1997, received her Bachelor’s in Dance from Western Michigan University, and continued her education with a Master’s in Dance/Movement Therapy. In 2021, Lauren Gadomski earned her Bachelor of Science in Theatre–Dance Teacher Education from Illinois State University and, with her teaching license, teaches PE at the middle school level. Linda Wilinski received her Bachelor of Science in dance teacher education with an endorsement in physical education from Illinois State University and is an active community member who has taught within District 102 and at the La Grange Park District. Brittany Smith received her Dance Performance degree and a School of Theatre scholarship from Illinois State University. Nina Crouchelli earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and Jamie Gawle obtained her Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in Communication Disorders, Spanish, and Dance from Central Michigan University. Peggy Herman has performed with Dance Center of La Grange, Ballet Legere Nutcracker for 10 years, Lyric Opera of Chicago performances over the past two decades, and in various TV and movie productions filmed in Chicago.
