Campers at Steve & Kate’s Camp - Lake Forest choose which activities they do, whom they do them with, and for how long. All-inclusive rates cover all camp hours from 8:00am to 6:00pm, snacks and lunch, and any activities that interest the child, with no additional fees beyond these rates. Families can buy any number of days and send their child on any day, drop off and pick up at any time during camp hours, and receive automatic full refunds for unused purchased Day Passes after the season, or choose a Summer Pass for unlimited use. The camp includes stop-motion animation on custom-built animation stages, an interactive virtual reality experience in the Media Lab, and use of 3D pens in the Tinker Lab. Steve & Kate’s traditions at this site include Find Chuckie (a rubber chicken) and Friday Pie-Day, where someone gets a pie in the face. Weekly specials can include giant inflatables, musical performances, movement workshops, and a popup petting zoo. The program has Youngest Camper Support Staff dedicated to supporting the youngest campers.

The camp’s mission states that during summer, it gives kids freedom to expand and evolve, with campers empowered to be independent, resilient, and responsible for their own decisions. Steve & Kate’s Camp began in 1980, when Steve and Kate Susskind created a summer camp in response to seeing kids’ independence slipping away. The Lake Forest site is led by a director named Grace. As summer approaches, registered families receive a link to a virtual camp orientation with details on local drop-off and pick-up procedures, daily check-in and check-out, what to bring or not bring, and other camp information.

Cuisine at Steve & Kate’s Camp - Lake Forest includes rotating specials along with healthy snacks and sides that kids can grab whenever they want, and the camp partners with fan favorite restaurants to provide food. Tasty meals and snacks are included as part of the program. Testimonials about Steve & Kate’s Camp include comments from Andrew Stanton, director of WALL-E, Finding Nemo, and Finding Dory; Apple’s Hot News; Variety magazine; The Washington Post; and the Chicago Tribune.
